We did one day "dispose" of a 20mm cannon round by starting a fire in a small metal bucket and chucking it in, a couple of minutes later, pasta strainer and this was after half a century underwater. Good times

I can picture changing my user name to "uncooked hamburger" but really, it's completely inert, hitting it with a hammer would only progressively flatten it.
