ahh cool, thats a really nice and simple design!

made me think how i could make my design easier with less moving parts and i think im going to reposition the valve underneath the barrel, that way it gives me more room for an air tank and less moving parts in the barrel will make construction loads easier

stand by for a drawing...

here is my design for the trigger, hammer and valve setup

enjoy...

Looks more like a spring-loaded QDV than a hammer valve in the conventional sense.

Do you want this to be a repeater?

yeah, it is starting to turn more in to a QD gun

a repeater would be good, but by putting the tank below the barrel instead of behind i think i have lost quite a lot of power, so making it a QD was a way of balancing out the loss in power

ill put up a more detailed pic of the hammer design in a sec

you should make a separate piston seal for the chamber with a spring so every time the hammer hits tit it lets out a small amount of air like http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/hammer- ... 22333.html

yeah, that probably would make more sense
this is the current hammer -

im not sure how i would make this valve here without it leaking -

u mean the piston ? you could make it by putting maybe a bolt through the piston and then use hardish spring to hold the piston sealng the port and then attach hammer, everytime the hammer strikes the bolt air will be released

yeah, i dont know if it would be more effective to just make it a dump valve

i like the idea of not having to pump up the tank each time, but i would rather have one powerful shot than multiple weak shots

okay, got the hammer and trigger setup made today and its looking good
i decided to try and make it a semi auto, then if it dosnt have enough power ill just take out the spring and make it a dump.

have any of you guys had experience with using chemical metal?
i used it to fill my hammer and to fix the spring and trigger pin in place

cheers

chemical metal ? like liquid metal ? i used some in my older builds but really smells bad and for me it was real hard to use. you might have better luck with it though

thanks squidchicken for the link and LovableAirGuns for the cool valve, pretty much the inspiration for my own design

here is what i have done so far -

Here is my hammer and trigger setup, i thought it would be easier to use an old bb gun hammer as a mount for the one i made.

and here is my valve, i decided to go ahead and make it semi auto

this is just the 'rough' version to see if i could get it working

WOW nice job and also i based the valve part off of this:
