It does fire from a closed bolt, all the air goes into the bolt, through the ports, before it enters the barrel.

jhalek- if you are only shooting spherical projectiles, have you considered cutting down the bolt travel? It seems its travelling much further than it needs to, possibly adding unneeded dead space and cycling time.
Theres no reason to have excessive bolt travel. Would be fairly easy to rectify.

How much (about) does your bolt weigh?

NOTE: the barrel is NOT plugged.
Yeah yeah..I know...
But mine had a breechlock and a solid bolt.
Performance should be better...but on the other hand...
Mine is scrapped..
Good luck with this..I'll be watching this topic!

I almost forgot that this didn't have a solid bolt.
I do like your cannon, though, BTB. Any chance of a re-visit, with a proper quick connect?

I can't see the darn video from work

any chance of some pictures?
edit: nevermind, sweet! i always wondered if a pop-off would pilot a springer successfully. looking forward to seeing this in action

I also wondered about that.
The pop off was not modified in any way, although, I did place a 1/4" BV between the sprinkler valve and the pop-off, this Is how the gun is triggered.
Did not get to the video/photo/stats taking yesterday, I was called into work.
Expect them soon.

After some fiddling around, I mad the tank smaller, which resulted in a bolt that fails to cycle. I re built a bIgger tank last night, and it works great again.
Also, I ordered 250 balls for ammo, that should be here by saterday.
Updated video and specs one I get my ammo.
Edit:
Also, the max rof before it turns into a "farting machine" seems to be about 3-5 rounds per second.

I really want to see a picture, or a diagram, this sounds really nice. I was wondering exactly how the bolt gets pushed back, is it just the recoil/air pushing it back?

The diagram is in the first post.
It's pretty straightforward, air enters bolt, pushing bolt back and projectile forward. Repeat as necessary.
