You had just said he wants 10 meter, I could see a 100 meters with a nerf vortex, at a 45 degree angle with a 2' 2in chamber with a well modded sprinkler valve.

If he wants ten meters tell him to throw it
Seriously... Don't bother with a QEV... you can get that with a sprinkler or even a 1.5" piston valve.

Id aim for about 75 meters, a good compromise and easily achievable with a sprinkler valve

I already ordered the valve, and its shipping. Its fine, I may be able to get the same distance with a sprinkler valve, but then that seems cheap, plus it will be easier to break rather than a full metal valve. I am designing this to be hard to break, unless abused moderately, so that it will last awhile. I have the barrel and air tank made, and I got the air tank machined by a friend specially.

Have you seen LnL's mortar, you may get some ideas from that.

No I have not. I saw a multishot mortar on youtube, heres the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVaPVzxF ... 5D&index=1 and this is what it is modeled after. Just a bit of a bigger barrel and what not.

Thats almost exactly like what mine looks like, but with a 2inch chamber, and a 3" barrel.

One of my projects I'm working on at the moment is designing a pump action shotgun. I'd suggest you make it all from scratch. PVC conduit should work fine. You want 2 sizes that either exactly nest within each other, or almost so (although the latter requires some O-rings). I've found lengths of conduit in scrap bins building and demolition sites, it's in the bin for a reason but do so at your own risk.
You use the 2 nesting lengths of PVC as a barrel, but leave the inside length a bit short at the breech end and this is where the shell (made of a short length of the smaller diameter PVC with a weak burst disk, to stop the BBs or whatever from rolling out, at one end and the wadding at the other. The shot is in between the 2 of course) sits.
I'll leave the hinge mechanism up to you

but I can explain the rest in more detail if you want.

I know how, its more just the problem it has to look closer to real than a quickly put together apocalypse weapons.
