It is essential that you ensure that areas not covered in water are prevented from overheating. You may have a boiler temp of ~300 and have the steam chamber exposed to >600. That is a recipe for a nasty accident. Water splashed on the overheated metal will flash the steam and cause an explosion.

Water added to overheated boilers is a common cause of boiler explosions.
Low water and overheating is a dangerous combination. If you have any leakage, stop heating as you may run low on water.
