Sprinkler valves are solenoid valves. Just a different name. What do you think that black thing with wires is that you have to remove?

The solenoid, not tryin to argue with you, on the brass one I have I removed it, got a bushing and a closed nipple, added the blowgun, and I was done. However, mine has a exhaust port. If yours has one, it WILL work!

I'm not trying to argue either... Just trying to point out its not always that easy.

nope, they are diaphragm valves, piloted by solenoids.

I'd mod it, if it doesn't have standard threads then you can just solder on a 1/4 NPT/BSP brass fitting.

But you do what you're happy to do, if you like how it is, then stick with it.

Yeah I think I stick with the electric for now and maybe modify one on the next cannon i build

Not all solenoid valves are created equal though, sprinkler valve pilots tend to be especially feeble hence the need for modification. On the other hand, many solenoid valves made for compressed air have much more efficient solenoid pilots and likely will not benefit much from modding, indeed they might actually perform worse with a blowgun.

ALOT nicer than my first. Then again i made mine in 5th grade lol. About modding the valve, I say go for it. As every one is saying, it will open much faster. Its easy too if thats what you're worried about. If your REALLY hooked on electric, you could use an industrial solenoid to pilot the valve. but those weigh like 1 pound lol (and expensive)

We got some work done today and some shooting

First we made a new trigger on the gun instead of the "black box"
not so good locking but it works fine



Then a new barrel out of cooperpipe



And then we tried to open the valve with 24volt as it should be instead of 12volt. Made a huge different

Cool! It would look better if that copper was new and shiny, and possibly the fittings and such rearranged to make it sleeker, because that is a nice valve.

yeah it would look better with a shiny barrel but we took what we had laying around. Maybe get a new one later. The fittings are gone be rearranged so the gauge and safteyvalve isn't in the way of the sigth

No need for a new one, shine it up with some light grain sand paper or even a brillo pad, will look like new!!!!
