I'll do some research next week (if you haven't been counting down, I finish on Monday and my 3 and a half month holiday begins) and see what I can do :P

What do want me to weigh? :D

Let me do some research on the Receiver and Transmitter modules.
There needs to be encoding/decoding circuits as well.
Note that they are on the same frequency as the RC remote firing system.

I think a fiberglass or plastic tube would be ideal for the body so it does not reduce the transmitter range due to excess metal shielding.

JSR; see if you can locate fluorescent tube plastic containers. They maybe cheaper than fiberglass and possibly strong enough.

The nose cone would be the only metallic piece.

MrC; What is the exact bore dimension in that new barrel?

I was thinking PVC tube would be up to the job...

PVC is to heavy and has thick walls.
You need a thinner walled plastic tube. Even ABS thin wall would be better.

Sectional density good :) plus it can't be too weak or it will fold on firing.

Stupid question, can a metal body be used as an aerial of sorts?

The sectional density would be in the nose cone.

Yes a metal body could be used if it is made for the antenna requirements.
I won't go into details yet until I complete more research on the transmitter antenna requirements.

As for the antenna, one could be made in to the fin section by running a wire along the thickness of each fin or the tail could be hollowed out and one of these spring like antennas used:

That's just off the top of my head, I'm sure when I've done some proper research better ideas will come to light.

Shouldn't be a problem, pusher plate doesn't have to pass over the cross slide during manufacture, and the fins will be made separately.

It is a crude tracker system.
A method using a directional receiver to locate the projectile.

Edit: love the names you gave the components. Wish I had one of those printing label things so I could put "auto arm", "manual arm" and "master arm" on the project box :D
