I might also develop a machined blow-forward unit that screws into a QEV, would people purchase it if it wasn't too expensive?

depends... is it going to be a full T that accepts tubular magazines or just a BFB ?

but hey if you've got a 3 way + qev you only need an aircylinder to get a reliable (and virtually lossless) system... so I don't quite get your idea

I picture an airsoft calibre unit, possible housed in a clear acrylic block so you could see it work, provided with a hopper, and with a male 1/4" thread so it could be hooked directly to a blowgun or QEV.

Need to buy some acrylic and give it a go, so many projects, so little time...

That would be so awesome. Do you think you actually are going to sell ? I would DEFINITELY buy an airsoft size one.

Jack, if you do that I would buy one. But you would have to list it on ebay so it looks like I just found it looking around ebay.

I would defiantly buy it if it was on ebay like warhead said. Just in time too!

I'll see if I can rustle up a prototype and see what interest there is, and will consider a limited production run if I can do it at a reasonable price.

I'm inclined to give this design a go:

Image

(Without the stem opening the green check valve)

This would remove the need for a QEV, being reloading mechanism and valve all in one.

So, you have a regular push button valve behind the check valve and when you open it then it fills the chamber until the pressure on the piston/bolt face is enough to "pop" the seal. Then the pressure has more surface to act on speeding up the travel until the valve opens firing the projectile and when the pressure drops, the spring pushes the bolt back opening the check valve and starting the cycle over. Am I correct?

yup :)

It's basically this, but the movement of the piston is coupled directly to the reloading bolt.

It's things like this that make me wish I had a lathe and a pile of scrap metal. I may figure out how to make this from relatively standard parts. I need a tub of epoxy and my thinking cap!
