The safe psi depends on the ratings of the parts in your gun. The maximum psi should never exceed the pressure rating of the lowest rated part of your gun.

For example if your barrel is rated to 175psi and all the other parts in your gun are rated to lets say 200psi you should never exceede 175psi which is the lowest pressure rating. The main reason you see 100psi so much around here is that most sprinkler valves are rated to 100psi.

110psi i heard so 100psi wuld be a safe bet, wot about butterfly valves the one they used on mythbusters i think they tested it at 100psi and they do look pretty strong, do you know the avergae rating if there is a rating?

The one on MythBusters was a very large steel valve, its pressure rating may have been in the thousands of psi. There’s not really an average for butterfly valves because there are so many different verities available, but I can tell you that from what I’ve seen PVC butterfly valves run about 150psi.

I think Orbit Watermasters are rated 120 working PSI, but I've brought mine past 150 and it still seems fine, I don't reccomend going to high though...

Butterfly valves aren't going to work very well IMO...

You won't need to sleeve your barrel as long as it's fairly thick and not floppy. Once you've opened your valve there will be pressure in the barrel for a milisecond before the ball leaves. I wouldn't worry about it.

On my PB rifle the barrel thickness is probably a millimeter or less and I've never had a prblem with it. I cut it the longest I could without it bending. 38" long. When I put a paintball in it just rolls to the bottom and stays, no wadding or anything.

Has anyone ever made a butterfly valve?

nah i dnt think so but why would you they seem cheap enough,if someone has post a link on how to make one

i just got the pipe of this guy it fits a GB snug,its orange UPVC its fairly thick is that alright? and do all my pipe bends and joints need to be pressure rated or just thick coz i got some spare thick ones that arnt pressure rated

You should get pressure rated ones. They can be weak even if they are thick.
