That NerfHaven thread is an interesting read even though it re-hashes what has been discussed here for years.
I wonder though, for all the folks against using pressure rated PVC (at no more than half the pipe's pressure rating) and insist instead on metal containers ...
then suggest getting a used container from an unreliable source (like Goodwill), or using a container designed for a completely different purpose (like a fire extinguisher) ...
do they pressure test their metal containers?
Seems to me that used compressor tanks in particular are not a good idea. A couple decades with water sitting at the bottom of the tank can't be good for their structural integrity.
Tanks rated for compressed air really have TWO levels of safety: the original design and PERIODIC PRESSURE TESTING. Without the testing the design is unreliable.
