Look at the elbow you used and posted then look at the ones Dewey posted. See the difference??? Your fittings must say nsf/pw on them. If they do not, then do not use them. Cant get any easier than that. Also if they say DWV like they do on your cannon, do not use them..

Before you touch your cannon or air compressor again,, do research, then get pressure rated pipe nd fittings , build a valve have fun,,, we dnt want you becoming a pirate over stupid decisions

I think I have come up with a plan for my new design that will be safe(r). I was reading somewhere, I can't use a bell reducer, but a bushing from 3'' to 2'' will work fine correct?

Another question; Can I use regular pvc glue to connect a pvc pipe to an ABS fitting?

BTW Most of these fittings are pressure rated besides the long sweep elbows, etc.? Like 90° Elbows, Female Unthreaded Socket Ends, Tees, Female Unthreaded Socket Ends, and Hex Reducing Bushings, Male Unthreaded Pipe End (A) × Female Unthreaded Socket End (B) are pressure rated if I'm not mistaken?

Absolutley not.... Pretty sure it says right on the can not to.... And those 4inch 90 degree elbows are not pressure rated. Neither is the bell reducer, or the end cap.... The only thing pressure rated on that cannon is the ball valve... Dismantle it before you kill yourself.....

Well my bad, I meant to ask about the fittings on mcmaster.com Are their standard PVC sch 40 fittings pressure rated, beside the long sweep elbow and bell reducer?

You just gotta know what your looking for...I looked at others cannons and did research. For me now telling if a fitting is pressure rated is like you telling the difference betweed a ipad and a ipod..... You just know... Do your homework and research.. Were not trying to be dicks we just dont want anyone getting hurt.....go to plumbingsupply.com..all of their stuff is rated....

Oh I understand completely, and appreciate your guys' help. Stupid me couldn't resist when my tennisball/golf ball barrel came in the mail today. Only filled the cannon up to 35 psi max and HOLY S***. The ball goes flying. Wasn't able to do a range test, only shot up into the air, just missing cars/houses by feet :p. I know it was very stupid of me, but I wasn't able to resist.

I know it was an idiotic thing to do, sometimes I have no self control. No worries, I'm not going to do the same mistake in the future.

I guess I'm the bad type of person that needs a pvc cannon blown up in his face to realize how dangerous poorly built cannons are.

Thanks for the link. I'll most likely be purchasing some parts from plumbingsupply.com, and before I make the same mistake again, I want to double check, all these fittings ARE pressure rated?

Yes, they all meet ASTM D1784; they also meet ASTM D2466, which means it's for pressure. I apologize for my stupid questions.

Just cuz its sch. 40 or says sch. 40 means nothing.....
