very interesting thank you. i did a search on 26 U.S.C. ยง 5845(F) and alot of atf.gov/files came up. i read part of one and basically it said the decision comes down to one person or one of his minions. so if you live in the U.S. be very careful what you type on your computer or say on your phone. you could be flagged. though you might when a court battle you will probably wish you didnt have to spend so much time and money to do so. even worse maybe you lose. sad but true the era of reagan is over. we are now in the under the rule of you know who. :tongue5:

Honestly, the US is one of the safest places to be spudgun wise. This isn't a "poor Britbongs/Australians" post, but unless you're making a direct threat or plans over the phone or internet, you aren't going to have problems. I don't care about legislation, I'd like to see real world cases of people being prostituted for saying something on the phone before people go around fearmongering.
And can I add, Reagan was about as good for your country as Obummer and the "Republicans" stomping their collective wee booties and not giving ground.

Yes, the punishments can be very severe
_________
If I'm reading this correctly, they have removed the reference under the 'destructive devices' category and instead added one about obtaining classification only? We don't exactly design/redesign these things as weapons...
Seems like there hasn't been a definite regulation change yet. Hopefully they realize that higher-end commercial airguns are way more suitable for someone looking to commit a crime. We rarely see anything both practical and semi-auto, and it takes a fair bit of skill to put a good/reliable one together.
Airguns can be bought by anyone, ammo is more accessible, and I sure would not want to be shot by some of the large bore variants out there.
All in all I'm fine with them letting the local authorities call the shots. I don't do anything stupid with spudguns so I doubt they will have a reason to care.
(And if a cop wants your gun, it's probably not going to make any difference what the atf has written on their website. In all probability they don't know the specific laws here because it's a fairly rare issue)

Really? Shouldn't be TOO hard.
