just practice on some scrap pvc until you get good at it.

Get a bit of dowel, bash some nails into drilled holes, cut and file nails to fit so the tips will cut into the barrel, stick a spiral of tape round the dowel as a guide to cut the rifling and go for it.

Then do it again until perfect and do it for real on your actual barrel.

I missed out quite a few details so re-read rna_'s post.
yeah the tape is really all that is confussin me. :? how does tape guide it? and where on the dowel do i put it?

Ok the tape is your guide, you stick the tape on the dowel length ways. You twist the tape around your dowel at a certain twist rate, make a section on the barrel and keep the tape and the marked section aligned as you pull the dowel throughso the twist rate is even not just a guess.

I would try screws instead of nails for adjusting the depth or penetration. Also if you use wood screws, you might not have to sharpen them.

Hey, sorry to kick this up, but great idea!

One question though. I still do not get the tape. Is it put on the inside of the barrel? Or wraped around the outside?

If it is wrapped on the inside, how is it done? Do you us the dowel somehow?

If it is wrapped on the outside, ho do you make sure to follow the tape?

You wrap the dowel with the tape to mark the path you want to rifle. Then mark another point on the out side of the PVC and keep the 2 points together as you pull through to make the rifling even.Make sence now or need more help?

Haha yeh putting tape on the inside of the pipe...That would be a feat ;).Now you may want to test it a few times and it isn't easy to pull the rifling tool through the pipe you need a bit of strength and pacients.

Good luck.
