Reworked it and simplified more ,(that's always good ) here is what I came up with.
hammer will strike a custom pilot valve on the coaxial. under the coax is the pump tube. EASY!

I did try flipping the bottom photos so when uploaded they'd be upright , that didnt work .then I un-flipped them and re-uploaded and still the damn things go "belly up" every time , no matter how I load them , they are upside down ! *#&"!-$";(*#!!!! woo , i quit!

If it's a revolver you're going for I think you're aiming for a relatively small caliber..??

If so, the revolving cilinder could go around a hammervalve.
In other words: Revolving around the reservoir wich holds the hammervalve.


makes it much more compact, plus, a hammervalve is powerful enough for small caliber

@jack - not yet , but I will soon I think. Is a diagram of that valve around somewhere? And for a random question , have you ever considered machining up a .45 caliber Crossman style pistol?

@brian - No cylinder action planned for these." Larger-caliber-single-shot-self-contained-coaxial" is how I describe these proto-types. I would however attempt one with a hammer-valve. My first hammer valve I made for .25 cal. a long time ago( now im looking at a box of .490 lead balls ...) was just epoxy poured into a pipe connector and hand-machined out. It worked excellent but I didn't have the skills then to make a decent copper gun for higher psi.


My intent is to tweak the design below from the pistol with handle to under-over style like the gun with no handle. This one has a rubber tube connecting pump to pilot area , this gets changed out to a brass connector. I'll move the exaust valve to the back , and smack it with my revolver-style hammer !

My reason is the if the one-way valve on the pump fails , the pump rod will eject toward the user. Not what I want to have resting on my cheek. So the volly gun below will turn into a huge under-over pistol with "revolver-style hammer" pilot trigger.Eh?

Here's one I had drawn but never made:

It is shown ready to fire, with the blue area indivating the chamber. The two o-rings on the piston are of the same diameter, therefore the valve is balanced and does not move. To fire, one pulls back on the knob to the right of the launcher, which pulls the piston back (with no effort other than overcoming the friction, again because the valve is balanced in terms of pressure) and allows it to dump the chamber through the barrel. The pressure will also push the piston back sharbly as effectively as it would an exhaust valve, more effectively in fact because there is zero piloting time.

The gubbins inside the piston in the diagram is basically a check valve, for an idea (which I believe came from someone else) to use the barrel as a pump chamber (with the pump piston shown under the launcher)

That and more, unfortunately at the moment all my time is being taken up by fixing other peoples' guns and preparing the boutique for the start of the spring season.

Why not just use the pump rod as a projectile :D

Oh, I got that saved for the next project ! Very nice design , compact and simple.
I have made a "balanced spool cartridge" that was just a 5" long pipe with a bolt spool 4.5" seal to seal. My attempt at a Brocock cartridge. It worked great , but was abandoned to "inspiration drawer"...

This design is too perfect , keychain size up to maybe a 5' long walking stick in a .490" caliber. :-D

I've been too busy with "life" to finish my hammer mechanism , but I made this update incase someone is interested.

Re-worked pump and chamber attachment (now brass) and moved pilot vent button to rear.A medium rubber band on the proto-type hammer (photo above somewhere) was enough force to pop the pilot nicely at 80 psi ! Can't explain it all now , kid just woke up crying.
