I loved you Analogy (sp?) type thing there Pimpman
I would never use DWV for any spud gun let alone a pneumatic, but if you want to, go ahead, It seriously is %100 your fault for using pipe that says NSF-DWV or "NOT FOR PRESSURE" with a pressure application...
I'd pay the money for the PVC or metal, it's really not that much more is it?
How much is the difference between 2" DWV and 2" PW where you live?
I'd check the metal prices also...

Mr. crowley... where do you live? If you live in the US, just order from
http://www.mcmaster.com... its gonna be much cheaper than any hardware store (unless you find some really weird one)

Speaking of doubling up on DWV pipe, which I can see I will not use when I make my spud gun (that's right, I haven't made one yet!), wouldn't it be safer when making a pvc pipe for the pressure storage to DOUBLE it with the next size up going over it to stop it from having a shrapnel effect?
HUH?
Boomer Said it.............(Do ya mind if I fart)

ah no if it did burst you would have twice the schrapenal. listen people it is rare for a spud gun to blow up unless you did a really bad job or really fucked something up. use the NSF-PW pipe and fittings and you will be fine

Yeah, unless you are making a hybrid, regular Schedule 40 should suffice. If you are worried, just add one of those pressure release deals.
