For $30 your probably not going to be able to make a large gun that's safe...

Irwinners gun is ok, but it's going to cost more than $30, 10 foot of 4" pressure rated PVC is insane, and a 4" by 4" by 2" pressure rated Wye fittings is very hard to find in most places, and probably expensive...

Just make sure all parts of your gun are NSF-PW PVC pipe...

I'd get 10 feet of 2" pipe, a 2" cleanout adapter + plug, and a Flint Lantern ignitor... The 2" PVC is about $7 in most USA, the cleanout, maybe $3, and the Flint ignitor $2 at Wal-Mart...

And if you don't have PVC Primer and Glue they sell $6 kits that include 8oz. of both...

It's been debated here on spudfiles many times, but most experts agree (and most tests have shown) that cellular core ABS pipe is perfectly safe for aerosol (and even propane) combustion guns. It's true that PVC NSF-PW is safer, but for combustions, ABS is cheaper and will work fine. However, don’t ever use ABS for pneumatic guns.

Plus, if PVC fails, it sends shrapnel everywhere.
If ABS fails, it will crack clean with very little debris.

I have an ABS combustion gun using metered propane. I've probably fired it 500 times without any failures.

As Froggy said, you won't be able to build a very big or very safe gun for $30.

I seriously suggest making one of <a href="http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtop ... ">these</a>. It is such a nice basic launcher and costs less than "standard" basics.

urs is nice gort, but it probaly seemed cheap, but u probaly already had the 4" pipe and half the fittings left over from the many cannons uve built. for his first gun id recommend something like i posted an idiot can do it and with the lantern lighter its pretty reliable and CHEAP

and vale, im gonna try to get to lowes today and pick up some stuff and im gonna make the gun with the directions i posted cause well im bored and already got the 4" cut

and "Birdmans Cheap n Easy" gun is not very cheap at all... 10ft of 4" NSF-PW PVC is easily $20+ in most places...

Either make a "basic combustion" that's about 1 feet of 3" to 3' of 1.5" (1.3:1 ratio)

OR

Make a gun that's a stick of 2" that has a cleanout and igniter on one end and a sharpened end on the other side (to cut the projectiles to size)...
To fire, you shove in a potato about half the way towards the cleanout plug, and then you uncrew the cleanout plug, spray in Hairspray of Deorderant for a second of so, put on the endcap (not too tight or it'll stick, but definately not loose), and then twist, push, or however you activate your igniter...

I give some pretty bad explainations in the morning, so maybe come back later

First off, it's 4", not 3".

Second, I bought all the parts specifically for this launcher except the 4" pipe and is came to $30.

You can generally find leftover pipe at a friend's house or something.

Also. just because I build a lot and have leftovers does not mean I remember what leftover parts I have. I make sure to buy all the parts I need because I cannot always count on what I have at home.

well i didnt think about the cost for the 4" frogy, i got it along time ago from the golf course my dad works at, but the rest of the gun is about cheap as u can get it
