Whoever said to use PVC rod, that's a huge waste of money, considering you only need like 1 or 2 inches and you have to buy it in 10 foot lengths.
You don't have to buy PVC rod in 10 foot lengths...

You have to buy atleast a foot and a foot is 7 bucks i think

Yeah, whatever, but it's still a waste of money, plus hard to work with unless you have really precise electric saws, and BBs won't feed as well.

Many places sell PVC by the foot, noname.
Also, bondo is a very cheap material to work with. a $20 tub will last the average hobbiest for nearly a year, maybe longer, and has countless aplications. Handy to have around if your car gets dinged as well
