here is how it would work.
The valve would be actuated by a spring loaded trigger set of by a trip wire.
My first idea was a land mine but its not as reliable or safe(what if the pin or nail was to break off .... ouch) and needs burrying...

I had a similar design to that except a wee bit different. I spaced the flour nozzles apart so that the foot activating the mine would not get in the way of the flour ejection.

The only problem I had was I didn't get enough flow from the 12 gram c02 cartidge.

You are on the right track, flour works well as a marking substance.

im not sure if anybody mentioned this yet(at least i didnt see it) if so my bad but hold a match or mount a lighter out like a foot from your gun then after it shoots out the flower light it ....same idea as blowing flower into a flame then it catches on fire..
