That is an ABS cannon is it not?, and if it is the cannon will tear unlike PVC which would shatter, but you are right whether it tears or shrapnels a duct tape covering would come apart

Not to say your cannon would be exploding anytime soon

I thought that they would be ok because hey are used in the vacume pumps for milking
