Electric ball valves are often very expensive - I recall that even an average quality one wouldn't give you much change from £300. ($550)

I wouldn't attempt a piston valve as my first valve. Some have - some succeeded, more didn't. I'd keep it to something fairly simple and premade.

Killagorrila, I wouldn't make suggestions like that... Some people wouldn't realise it was a joke.

Yes, but this forum does seem to attract quite a few of them.

I'm merely saying I wouldn't say something like that - I wouldn't want to feel responsible if something did happen.
