big warning here guys, one day me and my friends were going to storm the little kid bus, but we needed a diversion. so the first thing that came to mind was a smoke bomb, but this couldnt have been just any smoke bomb this had to be a super smoke bomb. i only had small amounts of kno3 left and my friends had 11lbs of the stuff so i had them do told them just follow the directions and you'll be fine. but for some reason they thought they shouldnt listen to me that day and put it on medium instaed of low, can you guess what happened? well the ended up with second degree burns and sever damage in there kitchen and floor, you see what happened is it was partually cooked to it set of small explosions all over the place, like all the pockets of sugar exploded sending molten material every where

SUMMARY : if you put i on medium your screwed

Wow, I had a good idea! Except for the slightly poisonous part. I've burned copper and lithium before and nothing bad happened (as far as I know  ).

What we do is mix potassium nitrate, about 3 heaped tea spoons in 250ml water, in water until it disolves. Then we pour it in a tray and get kitchen towl, the big tissue paper stuff and we soak it in the solution. After it is soaked we hang it on the washing line in the sun. When we have made enough peices and they are dry we roll the peices up really tight and put one or two elastics around the rolls.

Then we stick a match in the center of the one end. When you light the match (and get away a fair distance) the roll ignights and makes a fair amount of smoke. It also burns the crap out of what ever it is resting on.

I am going to try make some of the smoke bombs today but without melting the suger. Great work dungdue0.

I did this on a very small scale. It was amazing how great it worked. Clump the size of a dime produces as much smoke as a regular smokebomb you would buy.

Here are some more variations that are more powerful (and more prettyful)
This is great fun, and can produce some great effects to your dull combustion spudgun shot.

---SIMPLE SMOKE---
The following reaction should produce a fair amount of smoke. Since this reaction is not all that dangerous you can use larger amounts if necessary

· 6 pt. ZINC POWDER
· 1 pt. SULFUR POWDER

Insert a red hot wire into the pile, step back.

---COLORED FLAMES---
Colored flames can often be used as a signaling device for terrorists. By putting a ball of colored flame material in a rocket; the rocket, when the ejection charge fires, will send out a burning colored ball. The materials that produce the different colors of flames appear below.

COLOR MATERIAL USED IN
Red Strontium Salts Road Flares
[Strontium Nitrate] Red Sparklers
Green Barium Salts Green Sparklers
[Barium Nitrate]
Yellow Sodium Salts Gold Sparklers
[Sodium Nitrate]
Blue Powdered Copper Blue Sparklers
Old Pennies
White Powdered Magnesium -or- Firestarters
Aluminum Aluminum Foil
Purple Potassium Permanganate Purple Fountains
