Well For most combustions ABS is better, but PVC has its advantages.

They are both fine for first timers combustion cannons. My first cannon was out of pvc and my second was out of abs and they both work properly (and haven't exploded).

I haven't tried ABS, but my PVC cannon is a beast and it hasn't exploded on me yet.

abs can explode and when it does you will shit you pants if you are anywhere near it. and it won't just split open and not send peices flying.

Is that your picture? Thats very interesting that it did that. My only explanation would be that is was fractured prior to firing it. Did you drop it by chance?

or it is just bad pipe and if it was cold while firing then that could do it.

yeah it's my pic and no the gun was not damaged in any way and it wasn't cold out but I tell ya the explosion was deafaning

I dono ive used PVC on all my cannons and had no trouble at all. id go with a tryed and tested method? but hey tryed and tested had to get there some how? Just give it a go and dont do anything too silly. see what happens it just might be the next best thing to hit. Happy Hunting.
