althoguh those bullets are pimp i think they wouold be lgiht because they are aluminum rihgt? stupid question since ur a cnc machinist...but i think those are show ammo how no mercy he probably isnt going to making many of those they are proabbly time consuming and light therefore not damaging

Well if I knew how to edit my thing, I wanted to add that as a CNC machinist he can probaly just program the machine to make a continuos output of them and walk away just like that.

i learned how to operate a early this century cinncinatti belt driven lathe. it looked like it came over on the mayflower but it was a damn fine lathe. the qev is wayyy overkill but it sounds so damn good when it exhaust the pilot. the gun is very powerful. when i get some barrel butter this weekend ill shoot my bullets and take some video. should post it saturday evening. so far 3/8 inch bolt thru 2x10 wood at very close range.


the bullets are light. take 20 seconds on the lathe. i can make stainless steel ones in about 30 seconds. want to try the aluminum ones first since they are a lot cheaper to make. have no idea how they will be on damage. but the stainless ones should be awesome.

I like cannons which look like they were designed with some kind of ergonomics in mind ^_^

I know you said it's for ramming down the ammo but... have you had a go at firing the RPG bit?

hotwired, i totally agree with the ergonomics concept. havent shot the rpg ....yet... its awful heavy tho'. ill probably shoot it for the video this saturday. stay tuned.

Black steel ought to do the trick for bullets.I know I pick up scraps from a friend to mess around with all the time.I have an old Atlas(also belt driven)The old dog is about as inaccurate as it gets.I'm usually off a full 1/8".The chuck is lopsided and the bit holder wobbles.Lucky me I machine PVC so I use my pocket knife and wood tools 8)

going out later today to shoot some video of the cannon. planning on shooting some paintballs, 3/8 inch carriage bolts, and my custom aluminum bullets. should be posting video this evening in the contest submission thread.
