Yea, if you are making a pneumatic, listen to frankred, altho i don't most of the time.
EDIT: yea, about my last post i kinda messed up hehe, it is getting late and i am going from pneumatic to combustion to off topic forms, so i scrolled up to see what i was posting about and saw the word combustion, so i posted about combustions.

International spudders don't use mcmaster due to they don't ship overseas. So I personally use a plumbing merchant.

This seems dandy and all, but how did you come to the conclusion that finding the parts for a pneumatic would be easier than getting parts for a combustion?
Also, I agree with pyro on that if you want to keep it simple for people and it's a school project, then I would just use a ball valve. Cheap and effective.

hurray, my pipe came form mcmaster today
um, but there is one problem, i apparently didnt pay attention when ordering and the reducer bushings that i ordered butt up to the pipe they do not fit inside
so i was wondering if it would be ok to solvent weld them butted together with a non rated coupler. Also if this is possibly can you weld diffrent color PVC together?

Wouldnt it be easier to hit up Home Depot and just browse a bit. All you need is two peices of pipe and a valve. Quite simple.

on the valve issue, Home Depot is 30 miles form my house, lowes is only 5

Ok i think you need a coupler for your bushings. the bushing itself will not fit directly into the pipe. all you need is a coupler to fit the bushing to the pipe.
EDIT: btw, most lowes carry nsf-pw fittings up to 2". you might want to try there before ordering from mcmaster again. although i do know some stores don't always carry everything. talk to someone who works there, and ask for the specific part you need.

well, i was thinking
i dont think the couplers need to be pressure rated, as long as i butt the bushing and the pipe together

ummm...well i dont agree that it wouldnt matter if its pressure rated or not, and the coupler will not butt the end of the bushing completly against the pipe. the coupler has an inner ring right in the middle, so both ends will have equal surface are to be glued to.
What exactly are you talikng about, why does the bushing have to butted against the pipe?
heres what a coupler looks like
