Would the rubber from a basketball make a good seal againts PVC? The inside might be smooth, I'm not sure.

Might even be good for a diaphraghm, I'll check when I get home. I was planning on using it with a barrel sealing valve.

Actually certain types of cynocrylate(aka super glue) will work(depends largely on whether or not you buy the gel or liquid types). I know in the US...
