This will work for a while but you'll eventually have trouble with the hose slipping off, even with tight hose clamps...I've been there and done that. Get yourself a Mr. Heater propane tank adapter or one from BCarms you see advertising here. When i made mine i didn't have to mod the propane valve at all. The neck just unscrews from the valve. 1/8 fpt i believe. I'll post pictures some timenuclearspud wrote:By the way, how did you modify the propane valve (the torch valve) to accept a fitting?

When I made mine, I just cut the curved part off, and used a pipe thread die to cut pipe threads into the brass. Worked good.nuclearspud wrote:

Are fpt threads compression fitting threads? Nice Cannon!! I'm new to spudfiles and i'm building a propane injected cannon similar to this one. I'm curious to how you figured out the size of your metering pipe to your chamber size??? Does your cannon fire every time or do you experience mulitple misfires with it?? I have already built a few hairspray cannons, but i'm looking for more power and reliability. Is Propane going to be a better way to go??

I didn't do any calculations to find the right sized pipe for the propane petering system, I simply built it with what i had lying around in my basement and then did the calculations to find the right pressure i needed to use. The fan is for ventilating before and after a shot, and mixing the fuel/air during a shot. As was recommended in the post above, go to BurntLatke and bone up on some advanced combustion principles.
