well guitar freak, i looked on the nz govs website snd found this;

http://www.police.govt.nz/service/firea ... heet04.php

that says ur basicall allowed a pneumatic cannon, full stop.

http://www.police.govt.nz/service/firea ... s-code.pdf

that contains this;
An M.S.S.A. is a self-loading rifle or shotgun with one or more of the following
features:
• Folding or telescopic butt
• Magazine of more than 15 cartridges for .22 rimfire
• Magazine of more than 7 cartridges for others
• Bayonet lug
• Free standing military style pistol grip
• Flash suppressor.
You will need a permit from the police to obtain one of these firearms.
so u need a permit for a flash suppressor. from whati saw thoug, there is nomention of a silencer. so you should be right, but read that site first.

check the off topic section for the thread 'silencer?', that should give you an idea

i tried making a "supressor" but i don't think it worked that well ... i drilled holes at the end of the barrel and it pretty much didn't do anything ... then i tried drilling holes in a sponge that i wrapped around the barrel ... didn't work either ... but good luck with that in new zealand
