don't expect the powder to explode with a bang if you burn it in the open, it needs to be very tightly compressed to cause an explosion.
Thankyou ALOT! Thats all I wanted to know: )

at your own risk, if they're rimfire carts I wouldn't clamp the base too hard in the vice

Ok I dissasembled them and got about 3 grams, I had about half a pinch of this stuff and rolled it in paper and taped it TIGHT ANd put a fuse in it. Will this be loud because my neighbors(2 houses down) are sun bathing
And will call the fuzz.

no...paper rolled up will most likely do nothing...
if the powder is really coarse and not really fine then all it will do is flash...and it is probably ~2f

Ive been experimenting with gunpowder lately and with firecracker-like structures only get a pop and one end plug missing. the only way to get a bang with smokeless powder like what you have (it burns slower) is to use a thick walled flat-pack explosive (a.k.a. squibs). Make them out of several layers of duct tape for a good bang.

Can I grind it up more in a mortar and pestle?

Close, I just turned 15. But yah, I to have a tendency to type one liners sorry about that. I will try to juice up my paragraphs for know on. What can I say I'm full of questions.
Also when your typing in the reply box it looks like you typed more than what actually shows up.

well, it doesn't have to be that compressed. Foil and gorilla glue will do it.

I heard that spraying wd40 on the primer helps it not go off
but don't take my word for it

frankrede your rite wetting the primer will stop it from going off!!
However if you want to safley dismantle bullets you should invest in a break hammer. its a hammer you can load your bullets into and with a light tap on the table it compleatly pulls your bullet apart!! wadding gunpowder progectiole and then casing!! I've got one and its great for making jewlery! Yes some hill billys like the idear of having a .308 bullet hanging from there neak and i can get ten bucks each for for em in 3 dollars in expence to make them!! HE HE HE sucker born every minet!!!

My advice is don't mess around with pulling bullets apart...I had a piece of brass in my cheeck from doing something similar.Just buy the powder.

I want to get the powder out of several bullets here coz I dont trust my lil bro with them lol. I see a lot of point in taking out the powder in a few bullets

i dont see how you cna set them off by trying to take them apart. bullets need a sizable hit to ignite the powder. i take apart .22 all the time with just a pair of plyers. the powders isnt to good to use if you want a good bang but i found it makes nice fuses if you pour it in a thin line down a peice of tape than fold the tape over.
