I still don't see why that way is better, considering you are going to have to inject several times, and possibly lose count due to a distraction and have a bad mix

I can resurrect threads I started I was out in the wilderness for a week so give me a break.

I disagree, If there are distractions, you shouldn't be firing home made cannons... I feel more comfortable with using this than I ever would with an air regulator. I'm not going to say one way is better than the other, but I'm not going to be convinced that something which expels gas into the atmosphere is better.

It expels once, and that is when you set it, and it releases only a small amount, it releases less gas than when you start up a grill and the few seconds it takes to ignite.

And it is quite tedious to have to inject several times, I couldn't stand it with my hybrid, and having to count everytime will get on old real quick I trust you.
And by distractions I could be anything that could stop you from counting, such as tinkering with something on your cannon, someone talking to you, your making a simple process more complicated by adding in a whole part that a human has to do.

How sure are you on the accuracy of the grill regulator?

I've got a gauge on the meter as well, the meter is very easy to adjust and is very consistent. I'm also positive that I get no liquid propane into the system because the intended configuration while using this adapter actually calls for the propane bottle to be lying on its side.
I like to set it in the full off position after I'm done using the cannon just to be safe.
I see your point about air regs however. I have a plain MNPT to disposable propane bottle adapter and an old beat up air reg I may play around with. Both types of regs have their pros and cons, but for my first combustion I'm pretty pleased with how the grill reg is preforming.
