Oh, one more thing, as to the late nature of the post, I'm sorry but I just recently found this group and read all of the posts regarding BBMG, including this thread. I hope I haven't stepped on anyone's toes in the process, I'm just looking for an education.

I've already warmed up my machine shop to produce what I'm calling a "Cloudy Vortex" gun that utilizes the best aspects of both systems and removes the drawbacks to each.

The drawback to both is huge air consumption. If you can fix that you're the king

Huge air consumption with an open bore is a un-fixable problem. What I DO hope to achieve is a more economical device that has a high rate of fire, completely reliable (as in NO stoppages), and uses it's air in the best possible ratio to BB delivery. A portable tank is then do-able, as long as it carries regulated high pressure with a reasonably decent volume, ie. a 4500 PSI compressed air paintball tank regulated to 120PSI.

That should be good enough for 4000 or so BBs (maybe 6000 to 8000?) between fills with a delivery rate of about 3000 RPM + and a muzzle velocity of about 400 FPS.

More info and a movie as I finish my project.
