Edit at Modder: Wouldn't turning a weed wacker on it's side cause problems with the engine? Do most modern weedwackers use a fuel/oil mix or do they have an oil reservoir? I made the mistake of tipping a lawnmower the wrong way and the oil got into the air filter, which caused it to start smoking horribly and shut off.

Most weed eaters are two strokes. This means that the engine runs on a fuel/oil mixture that lubricates everything and then get's burnt. They can run any direction so long as they have a diaphram carb and aren't leaking gas.
A 4 stroke, which is what a majority of lawnmowers are, must be run without being tilted since they crankcase has oil in it, and if it's tilted it can run away from the crank and camshafts, and burn up the engine.

Of course, there are 4 cycle string trimmers (Honda makes some I think), and 2 cycle lawnmowers (like older Lawnboys). But, it's easy to tell just by the sound alone. And if you can't tell, then you shouldn't be operating them in the first place.

I was thinking about a 3-5hp but now I'm aiming for the 3's I think 5 will just be too big.

We flipped a go-kart over on its side to get at the belts, and it still works.

We were using the gokart to go sledding, with a broken wheelbarrow tied to the back of it and getting dragged around. (Thats how you sled in Texas )

I have been gone to work at a ranch. Anyways my neighbor used a tiller engine for a bike. He cut the frame and mounted a metal plate on it to sit on.

modderxtrordanare they're saying you can't run the engine while its on its side. I assume it was turned off when you filled it over.

i actually took an air-hogs engine and stuck a wheel on it and slapped it to the rear of my bike. at the amazingly large speed that it spun, it propelled me at about 5 MPH (i had a regulated CO2 supply. the thing was COOOOOLLL!!!!!! (sounded like a revving motorcycle at 100 PSI....)

i reccomend attatching a second sprocket to the other side of your petals and attaching the engine off that. then the shifters still work so you have a transmission!!!!

of course, youd have to take the petals off, but w/e.

I might not even use a multi gear bike. I don't want to use my bike because it cost too much money so I'm just getting a cheap one off craigslist.

yeah. sounds like a good idea. in that case, just do the roller thing. it will proboably work fine for you. plus, you can make a lever so the motor disengaes and you can petal it normally.

Why do the roller though? It only gives less traction, less power, ruins the tire quicker, and its so much easier to buy a chain then to make/buy a roller and it would be easier to mount the engine.

I don't want to be able to pedal normally. That's why I am keeping my normal bike. I'd rather spend less money so thats why I'm using a 4 stroke briggs and straton 3hp.

If you read what I posted before I said that's why I am keeping my bike that I have now and am just going to buy a cheap one speed bike.

ok well if you really aren't going to listen to me when i say that I don't want to pedal and keep telling me that I should do it so I can I would just appreciate it if you could take your advice elsewhere.
