I like the sound of all this, so you have my vote (whatever thats worth  )
I especially like the idea with the links that go to all the cannons a person has made, because then you can view all of their's easily and view your own easily.

When we move to the newest version of this forum software, profiles will be much more custom. However since SpudFiles has been so modified, I will literally have to take hours upon hours to plan the conversion, then plant my butt at my computer for 24+ hours to get things converted successfully. Not to mention all of the processing time that it will take the forum by it's self to convert, during this entire time the forum could not be open.

As far as games go, there are actually some already here. Click on "Other" on the top right of the page, then click "Casino". A few simple games that deal with spudbux.

If anyone has any game making experience, (simple flash games) I would be more than willing to put up spudgun related games.

I appreciate the amount of work you go to keeping this forum up and and running, I tilt my hat :) Perhaps a section could be made where members can externally link their favourite games? This would reduce the work load on you?

I know! They're addicting. I've lost so many of my precious spudbux to them. :(

Go to Theopia. There is a link section there.

But I remember a while back there was talk about a "Plans" section. (I just randomly remembered that) But you could set it so you need special permission by a "council" or something to get access. Mainly to prevent a noob from getting plans and shooting up a major place or something.

We have most of that here allready, just in a different format. SpudFiles profiles are simpler, and our 'models', are in showcase sections, not a tabed/folder style profile page.

@PC, I can offer to mirror spudfiles locally while you convert and process the database (I admin a small server farm on a dedicated T3 with a few TB of storage...). Nothing long-term, but for a few days while you get site back up would be no problem.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Pat let me know about the game... PM me about it.

Pete, the database has to stay locked for the conversion so there is no point of trying to keep it online for the hours it would be down.

So not even a mirror site will work? That's odd...

Well you put a mirror up, and it will keep count of thread views, new posts, etc, then as soon as the "new" page is up, they would all be gone! :P

The database can not be modified during the time of the conversion. A copy CAN be made and hosted for the time being, but then I would have to redirect my domain why trying to use it to do the conversion, plus anything done on the mirror would not transfer over to the "new" page.

It's not like SF would be down for days, few hours to a day max. It would be days of planning and building to be ready to make the jump.

Ah, I hadn't thought of that bit. Yea, I can see it. Well, *if* you decide to do something like that, just let everyone know when it'll be down, I really don't think anyone would mind for a few hours if it was for the betterment of the site. This will give people time to reflect upon their lives, if they start having withdrawal symptoms or depression, they need serious help. Help getting a life that is. Just think, you could help someone catch on to their problem before it got worse.
