Hey BTB, iv got a question about your bolt. What methods do you have in place to prevent the bolt from flying out the back of the gun when you fire. What it looks like you have is a rod bolted through the bolt, which is braced against the pipe behind the tee for when you fire. do you have anything else preventing it from blowing back? I do realize the air will take the easiest path, which will be to push the projectile out the barrel, but what if the projectile gets jammed or something like that.

I know that part, what i meant was, is there any safety mechanisms apart from that? I do see it looks very strong though, is the bolt solid metal with a metal rod tapped into it?

Thinking about it, that is a very strong looking mechanism, especially if its a solid metal bolt, with metal tapped into it.

No.
No need to.It is very strong and I can always use my teeth to catch it in case it fails.
It's made of two layers of pipe, then a solid core.
I have shot it when unlocked and it wasn't anything to worry about anyway.
The bolt doesn't travel more than an inch when fired un-locked.
Because it will take the easiest ( alternative) way out..wich is straight to atmosphere and that's when it stops pushing on the bolt...

Thanks BtB. I was asking because I'm in th process of making my bolt and was wondering if I missed something . I didn't want it blwoing back into my face lol. Your reasoning is solid sound and I agree . Thanks for helping me .

My appearance just hasn't changed that dramatically because of the epoxy reconstruction I underwent in some cave...

I'm sorta like an epoxy-borg now...

My bolt will have a bolt going through the middle, with a nut and washer on each side. Then in the middle of the bolt is hot glue. So that doesn't sound strong enough? Would I be better of using epoxy inside? Or should I just get a solid length of steel and tap into it?

EDIT:
On second thoughts, ill make the bolt out of a solid piece of metal, it will look and feel nicer, as well as being a lot safer. Its a good thing i got some metal taps a few weeks ago, can finally get to use them, yay!.

Once i have completed the bolt ill make a thread for my gun, and my progress. So far i have the exhaust valve done .

I do have a question about the hammer mechanism on your gun. Is the hammer hard to pull back? Can you post up a drawing of the hammer diagram (you dont have to, its your design )? I have a diagram of how i plan to do it, but yours is a working model and some insight would be very helpful . I was thinking, instead of a hammer, using a solid steel rod, attacked to a spring, so instead of having the hammer move through an arc and strike the valve, it will move in a straight line and strike the valve. I want to do it this way because i want the hammer mechanism to fit inside my stock, as well as be cocked using a horizontal pull, like modern day rifles.

I plan to get a regulated co2 setup so it can be a portable bolt action rifle . The co2 setup i plan to get comes with a backpack and quick disconnect fitting.

I think you'll find it's the spongy bit filling with fluid that givs your bolt its strength
