Well, in the spirit of "just do it and see if it works", I threw something together with what I had to dim an LED... if I had a larger pot I could get a little more control... Switching frequency is about 300-odd hertz.
Diagram
Should be easily adaptable to heating a small coil of wire.
I also
really need to get a breadboard.
EDIT: ran the output to a 1/8" phono jack. While I did get some groovy sounds, it was clipped all to hell and I couldn't really make out anything.

Double post, but this is a better circuit using about a 1.4 kHz switching frequency. Also, I got a breadboard.
I CBA to find a 470 ohm resistor so the "full brightness" of the LED is a little dim.

breadboards are awesome but get these too

I probably should. I had a set of tinned jumper wires lying around so I used those since I was out of hookup wire.

I was lathing some parts for my tennis ball cannon today with my good friend Toni. The old 3" male thread adapter needed some cleaning and the 110mm PVC plug needed a 40mm hole to it.
Simplest way to do them was with a wood lathe and some weird couges and off center drills

Let the pics speak for themselves
Driling the "center" hole
Making it bigger
Almost there
Part done!
Other angle
Now working on the 3" adapter
Cutting some ugly parts away
Squaring the face for good disk seal
Done! Looks rather bad in the pic but actually its smooth as silk
Also got his huge ballbearing today (measures about 30mm)
What ya say?

Looks good. That definitely worked better than my attempt to fit stuff through 3" caps using a hole saw.

I was goign to use a hole saw but then i remembered that the guy who does my welding has a wood lathe

Much more "hi-tech" footage to show you guys, finally i'm making something with proper tools

I'd use PVC more often if my brothers "Chappy"cannon hadn't blown up in my hands...
Looks good!
Today I found out that washervalves come in all shapes and sizes:
Would have saved me the trouble of rerouting the outports..
Even 3-in-1 and more:
makes me want to do an airsoft doublebarrel
with grenadelauncher...
Finally managed to cure a leak in the doublebarrel.
Numerous attempts at redesigning the poppetvalves ( at first) resulted in worn threads on one of the valve-lids.
I had taken it apart too many times to fiddle with springs and doing refinements on the pins, trying on different o-rings...etc.
I had noticed the material swelled when heated..so I just heated the threads with a lighter just enough to cause the threads to swell up a bit.
finally no more slow hiss.
Loading is all smooth now...I guess I could use a soda bottle with a small reg in a backpack and a remote line to keep it going for
ever..
Only needs 2.5 bar to be more effective than any of my sons other Nerflaunchers..
I got my new spudgunchannel up on youtube so i'll be doing some vids soon.

Not bad for a wood lathe!

We had to sharpen the couges many times during the latheing

Weren't mabe by me...
With sharp couges and right speed it was easy, i believe we used like 700rpm

Good to have you back around, that project that DYI, yourself and I discussed at length is getting feasible, almost got a lathe and mill now, not even paying for it.

That's good to hear, had you taken it apart for fixing or something?
It's been 6 months since I last fired my hybrid and I'm long past the withdrawal symptoms. At least it makes it easier to focus on university stuff. Once I find another location to shoot at again, the addiction will surely come back

My activities the last few days;
Sanding, sanding, and more sanding
Also found some nice pneumatic cylinders at school;
largest one has a diameter of +/- 12 cm
Thinking of making a hybrid out of them, in combination with the long one as a barrel hehe

Hey, we need a bump here.
I estimated my upcoming project to have around 613lbs of recoil force from a 5lb projectile.
