It's the only attitude you can sensibly take (at least outwardly) if you want your hobby to remain legal
well yeah I can understand that... but such people make it easier for them to ban more things...

plus there are lots of people who already have a licence but they try to prevent others from getting a licence.... a surprisingly large percentage of polish politicians legally own a couple of guns, yet they pass laws that make it more difficult for others to get a licence

it might sound dangerous but IMO sites such as spudfiles help to fight such attitudes... what if you can't buy an air gun because you live in a shi## country?
...build one from readily available materials

I think we should start a now lobby group, I am not sure about its name yet, but something along the lines of 'spudgunners against pussies'
lol that's a catchy name, isn't it

I can ask a cop to light my joint, but it is illegal for me to own a weak slingshot..

I can not build a spray and pray legally, but I can buy a Dragonslayer.50 in a store, drive it home and own it legally. However, an airsoft gun is also outlawed, while paintball isn't.

All air/gas/springpowered guns are legal as long as they don't resemble a real fire-arm.

That includes my " Mr Porter"

I'm currently reviving the katana I built when I was 14...but I cannot own a switchblade.

Law is forked up...

Anyway...I do believe we need a new forum section with " other" showcases.
This could include slingshots, trebuchets, knives , smart bat designs..and my new katana..whatever really..
Just so we don't get more discussion on wether this belongs here.
Eventhough the slingshots seem to occupy a lot of threads in a hurry...

Joerg, it seems you too have been infected by the polishing virus..
Looks good!
Maybe it would be nice to build one in a 1800's style..or a real futuristic one...
Slingshot art! :D

I'm not sure if associating obvious weaponry with a forum that tries to promote spudding as a fun and scientific hobby is really the best idea, it does blur the line somewhat. I'm not saying that anyone with a knife collection is a cold blooder killer, this is obvious to most people but as a public forum susceptible to media attention I don't think it would be appropriate.

.

you are right..

no knives.. :D
So where does this leave slingshots that could penetrate " human skull" ???

My katana will be a wall display item only..so it will not include damage pics...

Enough with the hijack..

Absolutely beautiful design! Does this technique make it harder to aim?

Yes, it is harder to aim. But with enough practice, ot works pretty good. And the additional power is remarkable.

Hmm i did this with a friend a while back. My stupid friend broke my bands though. Dont try this with store bought bands.

Nice video, i like that slingshot, looks very cleanly built. its nice to see something different posted here besides the potato gun, even though it is a potato gun forum but still.

Nice slingshot and thats for clarifying that technique. I like the simple design and clean polish. The fact that you have 2 different metals is a nice touch.
About the technique, i'd be afraid of hitting myself in the face!

I too would be afraid of band 'pop-age'.

Chrono?

How much faster?

Stu, my chrony does not work as I acidentially hit it with a 19 mm lead ball... spare parts should arrive next week. I will do the "blacksmith work" with a hammer.

But in general, the technique allows you to use heavier bullets. The single green tube that I was using in the video is normally not able to shoot 19 mm lead effectively, but with the butterfly method, they fly far and hit hard.

Jörg
