Two decades after I first held one, I finally acquired an example of the first "proper" airgun I ever fired
A nice late Christmas present!

Making a super simple 0.177 BB pistol, going to be muzzle loading, have some parts already, waiting for 1/4" Ebay QEV and compression fitting to attach barrel.
Made a new M5 port on the side of the trigger valve so I can keep the top profile low.

Looking good, to what pressures are you going to take it?

It's a shame you don't exploit your metalworking skills to go higher... that being said I acknowledge that power is not necessarily the most important criterion for everyone

Ha ha, yes, I do not thirst for ultimate power but functionality, practicality and aesthetics to some degree are what I try to achieve. Hoping to pass these on to my grandchildren someday as well. Something that will shoot up pop cans will do just fine.

All the talk about grenade launchers has made me itchy to build something so I made a plan for a 40mm launcher. Foam golf balls and 1/2" QEV ordered off Ebay, the rest I have. Barrel will be 200mm 1 1/2" PVC inside 2" st/steel tube. 1/2" QEV triggered by 1/8" 3/2 lever valve, chamber 2 pieces 1" Sch40 st/steel tube, much fun to be had.

I might consider a simple break barrel, in fact I think I will
Barrel slides back to put pressure on rubber gasket, locked with a toggle clamp

A possible pistol style, reduced chamber volume but lighter and more usable (fun), was going to say practical but

are you piloting that with a simple push button valve? I want to build one of these for golf balls now
