jsr, if i remember right i have posted a picturre of our little ballistic knife project. well, i can post it again anyways
i dont have pictures of the finished one, my friend has it and i dont know where it is right now

this, I have a couple of old knives as blade donors, the rest should be relatively easy to cook up on the lathe, I already played with something
similar...

No, you didint. We builded this about a year ago and it still isnt working, my friend havent got right spring for it
Im trying to finish the shieth today, well see if she gibes me a moment for that

I say make it work with air they are much more powerful and take no force to load, if you have a compressor no pumping too. At 300psi my one will just make it thorough 20mm pine board, your one looks like it can take 800psi quite well but the recoil will blow it out of your hand

I like how you leave the rough forged texture on the spine rather than smoothing it... it adds a bit of contrast to the blade edge. I need to get off my butt and make some knives.
Matty, I can pretty much guarantee jake's blades are sharp enough to shave with. If you grind the angles correctly and heat treat them well, getting a razor edge is actually pretty easy.

As there's epoxy involved you'll have to wait at least 24 hours to see it in action, but here's the whole thing in the meantime, obviously needs finishing.

matty: yeah basicly these
puukkos are razor sharp, when you sand it and then buff it to mirror, its already razor sharp
fnord: the forged spine has three features.
1. these days, you cant be sure has the blade even been hot when making it, the forged spine proves that it is
2. its a traditional feature. hundred years ago when they only had grinding stones, finnish people made the
puukkos only to work, not to be aestetic
3. when you forge the blade nicely, smooth the big bumps whit the hammer, the forged spine is very beautifull
