This pertains more to my "spare money" thread than here, but it's fine here, and this thread gets more attention.

Eventually I decided not to get the chrony I was considering. The store I was considering buying from turned out to have all kinds of extra charges they deliberately didn't tell you about until the last moment, so I gave them two fingers and went for some better video and picture editing software (Premiere Elements 4 and Photoshop Elements 6 bundle) which will allow me to do my videos more justice instead.

I've also ordered up the scope, a new (and hopefully better) bipod, and somewhat against my better judgement, a few 12g bulbs, a couple of which I will try to smash. A couple more will be left for a later day, for if I get HEAL up to even higher pressures.

I also ordered some inert ammunition in 10 different (and mostly well recognised) sizes, mostly for silly comparison photos against potato slugs:
9mm; .32 ACP; .45ACP; .30-06; .303 British; NATO 5.56mm; NATO 7.62mm; 5.45x39; 7.62x39; and .50 BMG.

And unlike some people, I don't have to worry about mixing it up with live rounds by mistake...

Not half an hour ago, a small delivery arrived at my door, with this in it:

3x9-40, nitrogen filled, Mildot reticule, 1/4 MOA adjustment, rated for all kinds of weird recoil, gets excellent reviews... In short, it's good for shooting a lot better than I do, and certainly more accurately than a smoothbore with irregular projectiles.
Almost makes me want to get an accurate air rifle to put it on.

I've still got to work out how exactly I will fit it to HEAL, which of course is a bullpup breechloader, so it's going to take a little work to find a good place to fix it, but so far, so good.

Should have very favourable results when combined with a bipod and a little patience.

*drool* i want one... no seriously i do for my 6mm 'sniper' where did you get it from and how much was it? i would also like to see how you mount yours, i'm planning to get a bit of plastic or metal of the required width and length and stick it to my gun which might look a bit ghetto and if all else failes i will buy a rail and scew that on.

You could have it side-mounted like on the RT-20:

@ALIHISGREAT: Just over £40 with the mounts and delivery from http://www.nmproducts.net - They do some absolutely excellent cheap scopes. I've only had mine a couple of hours, haven't used it yet, but I love it already, having just done a few basic checks on it.

I got the 3-9x40 deluxe, but they do a cheaper 3-9x40, a 3-9x32 for slightly less again, and fixed scopes in different sizes. There is the option of super cheap 20mm scopes (One is even under £10 with mounts and delivery!!!), but those won't be great on light collection, so I went with the 3-9x40 mostly because it's a size a lot of people will swear by.

There isn't a lot there that gives you an idea of scale... but that, believe it or not, is the .50 BMG being dwarfed there - Honestly.
That is an 55g CO2 cartridge (empty) that weighs over 350 grams, and conveniently fits down HEAL's 26.3mm hi-calibre barrel.

And also, to finish off, the bipod:



That's a nice solid bipod, about £30 - adjustable legs, with good rotation to help cater for any ground. Should go well with the scope.

Well, I will experiment to get it all put together, and we shall see what sort of accuracy can be managed...

And I shall also work out the dB levels as well while I'm at it.

Those names are really cool I had to go back and read properly to see which was which.

Are you really going to shoot that big co2 cartridge? That's gonna give a fairly nasty recoil at 300 psi or more. Be careful you don't break your handgrip (or your wrist:).

@_Fnord: I'll be firing it at some point. I know the recoil is going to be a bit interesting, but with the recoil measures HEAL has*, I believe it will be controllable.

*Mostly sheer weight - With all the additions it's going to add up to about 13 lbs. There are other things that should help too.

@Maniac: Perhaps I'll aim for a Christmas day release on the video. I'll need to make all my additions and changes quite quickly then.

Good news and some not so good news.

Good news:
Got the bipod and scope fitted...

...which all looks very fancy. The scope is fitted on a small removable piece that fits over the front half of the breech. It shortens the breech of course, so longer rounds can't be loaded that easily (at least without removing it), but all my standard rounds can still be loaded nice and easy.
I'll try to get it dialled in about right sometime soon. Fired a couple of a shots - all I know so far is that it's hitting pretty low.
(Sorry about the picture quality, I took it in fairly low light, so I had to do some crude adjustments to make it clearer.)

Also got a few dB readings, which I will complete soon-ish. I'm getting in the region of 95-98 dBC at 10 bar pressures.

Bad news:
I have a slight problem that it's now too dark outside to fix, so I can't do anything until tomorrow, which pushes back the schedules a bit. I may have to push the release back on the video a day or so, especially with all the other things I have to do.

aww that sucks i can wait though. But i had one more idea for some thing to shoot at. A ceramic santa clause. or a any kind of anta thing.
