yes i´m a noob but when you use a endcap as piston change the side where the sealing face is.
like this..

the pilot volume is smaller, barrel is longer and chamber is bigger.

I guess that would work but it might restrict airflow a little.

people like to use pool noodles

but if your using foam it has got to be some tough foam
