i think sprinkler valves can hold a seal up to 80 psi

They can hold much higher than that even, what I'm wondering is if the pressure differential around the diaphragm is enough to actuate the valve at such a low pressure.

And apparently, it is...cool.

mine is a sprinkler valve and it operates at 30 psi (parents won't let me go higher :evil: :evil: :evil: )

Dude. The safest way is to cut your barrel off, cut all of your fittings off, and rebuild a new cannon with the left over pipe.
