Get a few $2 wallmart pumps and tear them apart and find the one you need tats how i get mine.

PCGuy makes the final call but it gets the green light from me.

When you write up the how-to, just make sure to include a disclaimer such as this:

This has inspired me to make a new front teeth remover!

Actually it doesn´t work....I STILL GOT THEM!!

The last one was `safe`up to 79.9 bar..that´s...a LOT of PSI

The checkvalve failed at 80, almost removing my front teeth with the handle.


The new one gets around 400 easily, wich is as high as I´m willing to go..

I am planning to pump up a co2 tank to 50-60atm. I am ganna buy a tippmann 98, I found out that at this pressure u could get 50-60 shots out of a tank for free:) Would you say this is possible with such a pump?

400 bar? :shock:

What diameter is the pump tube, and what material is it made of? Can it put out enough air to make it useful for filling launchers?

Not quite mate ;) It's 400psi, which is about 27 bar :D.

Edit:...*feels like a knob....* I just saw BTB's post about the 400bar :| I thought you were talking about the original pump.... Sorry DYI...

Don't feel like a knob, BTB meant psi (400Bar ~ 5800psi NOBODY can put that much into a practical hand pump) :wink:

I believe DYI was making a joke. :?

Ant, it could be done with 1/2" or smaller copper for the tube.

It would require an awful lot of work for 50-60 shots though.

The pumping effort with 1/2" type M (.569" id.) would be 84.5-102Kg

This is still within the strength limits of the materials IF you use 95-5 TIn-antimony solder. The check valve I used would have to be modified.

Hey, thnx for the handbook! Should help me out as these high pressures can be very lethal! I found out that an average paintball gun needs about 1Ci (cubic inch) of air per shot. So yeah it should be doable. I just wanna make a cheap method for playing paintball:) Maybe a handpump marker is a better option lol. But yeah, I wanna get the experience and tech from the paintball markers so I can get a perfect semiauti bb gun>on high pressure. Gippeto, you also made a pump right? Have you tried ur max yet? Another problem I oversee is the fittings of the tanks and gauges:S

I have tried my "max" in the copper gun that I built. I can get my pump a bit over 400psi as noted.

At 400psi, the copper gun is pretty impressive. :D

As for fittings on paintball tanks, I believe you will have to have an adapter made.

Perhaps someone here knows of one that is available?

I wouldn't put it past BtB to bring a homemade hand pump to 400 bar. The way his post was written seems to indicate that he meant 400 bar, not 400 psi. If it was anyone else, I would have called bullsh*t.

Fair enough. :)

For the curious;

Brians pump cylinder was 12mm id.

@80Bar the force required would be 206.75 pounds

To get 400Bar (~5800psi) using the same force, the pump id would be ~5.4mm

If he went to 400 Bar, he would not have posted about it...he would still be pumping! :lol:

I am not saying it isn't possible to get 400 bar... but hey it a lot you know.... even 50 bar is a lot...

The fisrt one gave out at 80 BAR
so 60 should be no problem.
There is just NO way you are gonna pump up a CO2 bottle by hand.Pumping up Overkill to 20 BAR took me 15 minutes.And it wasn't fun.So I'm glad POLAND-SPUD came around and showed us the fridge compressor.
Remember CO2 is stored as a liquid in a tank, so that will give you WAY more shots than plain compressed air..WAY more.
It is not worth pumping for that long.I estimate it will take at least an hour.
