FYI, pressure increases by One Atmosphere for every 33 feet of seawater (FSW). so, at the surface you have one atmosphere, in 33 FSW you have two atmospheres, in 66 FSW three atmospheres etc..

That's some of the most vicious looking ammunition I've ever seen. I do know how they work and all, I'd just never actually seen a picture of them before. There's just something mildly amusing about seeing someone load large metal darts into a rifle clip

Rifling the projectile is useless when firing through such a dense medium as water, hence the need for long drag stabilised projectiles.

I once read an article about these guns and some thing about the fact the object is long and straight and moving at the high speed, helps to keep the projectile on course. But Jack' explanation sounds better...

Kind of sucks that it is factory reloaded...
