err stainless should be harder than normal steel..
then why are all stainless steel pipes thin walled but has a fairly higher rating?

very very nice cannon. Where did you get the control box? that thing is the sh*t man!

Control box is from RadioShack, but I may dump it and get a plastic one, as I am having weird problems with charging the capacitor using the black button while the box is closed up.

Instead, I usually open it up and put the battery in the prongs that are on the circuit board.

still looks pretty cool. even though i could see if any of your circuits are touching the metal sides, that would mess things up

how much was it

@frocksie: you can machine tungsten carbide with diamond bit tools. It's a shame that most diamond bit grinding wheels are >$200...

Mostyoustainless pipes are made to a higher standard than most carbonmuststeel pipes. My steelbeplate is made of a higher grade of steel than that used for plumbing (which is the absolute bottom of the barrel in most cases). Take a look on McMaster at tensile/yieldboredstrengths and hardnesses for SS alloys as opposed to carbon steel alloys, and you'll see my point.

sthorne-The box cost about $5 if memory serves me correctly. I think you are right about the circuit touching the sides of the box.

That ends all discussion of carbide. Can you suggest an easier to machine material that will penetrate?

Probably over half of the hybrids on this site do :)
