That's your liberal media hardly at work. They have no love lost for Heston and won't be much interested in seeing the masses get the full story. They of course would much rather you get some blather about Cruise....

Edit: FYI, I'm not exactly sure about NZ but in Australia, the political conservatives are the "liberals". In the states, being "liberal" is not conservative, it's the very opposite from Aus....

Yeah as I said before, not many people know him, the story wouldn't bring them enough money compared to a well known figure like Cruise.

A guy at my school recently committed suicide and he was involved in a fight the previous day. The media made up so much crap, I never believe what I read from them now.

They said he attended the school, when he dropped out the year before.
Didn't imply he committed suicide but said 'Boy dies after school fight' and even went to to blame the Principal and the school for not allowing the boy to come back to school this year so he could go to uni.

The fact is he was a drop out, skipped most of his classes and failed the end of year exams, and was caught with drugs, why would the school let him back in?

Anyway, no need to discuss what I just said, just saying I don't believe the media as much as I used to and it's typical they have some crappy Cruise story over a death of a film icon.

And how can talking about God given rights be offensive?
It's not really. But some people don't believe in God, and then you drag religion into it, and then politics with the whole 'right to bear arms' thing, and it goes on and on. Politics and religion, we don't need it.

This thread is to discuss his legacy and his passing, not to argue what he stood for.
And I don’t believe that there is not a God, it’s a tad offensive to me when you say there is no God, but I humbly disregard it unless it’s meant as an insult or a question.

Charton’s legacy was politics and religion; he served as the NRA’s president for 4 years.
Why is racism okay to discus, but not his other beliefs?

We’re not auguring, it’s peaceably debating, and as long as it stays as such I believe its fine. Think about the many long threads on PVC vs. ABS or Combustion vs. Pneumatic.

In all honesty I only knew him as a former NRA leader, I had forgotten he was an actor. I don’t watch many moves that don’t have John Wayne or Roy Rodgers in ‘em, or ain’t some other western or ain’t titled Back to the Future one, two, or three…

I bet nobody can guess how old I am...

Didn't say there wasn't a god.

And movies...
He was fighting against racism, I mean how can you argue that in today's times without being a complete racist yourself?

There aren't many long threads, just a lot of threads. Also this is a spudgun forum, not a shrine to Charton.

Unless someone puts a stop to it, let's face it, only time will end the debate, and that could take a very long time, especially with passionate members such as yourself.

Edit: Okay, carry on your debates but if I feel it gets out of hand, I will lock the thread unless another Mod or PCGUY feels otherwise.

Didn’t say you did, I’m just sayin’ that it works both ways.

There, now we've both apologized.
Thankyou for maintaining order Judge. I really don't know(or want to know)what you guys were debating about before. You both seem cool.
I am really a "gun nut" I guess. It's just something about projectiles. it's my favorite thing to watch their speed, whether it's throughing a rock or launching something. a lot of people have the same interest. It's just something different about us.
I enjoyed your posts. I hope you read my last post about how I feel about CH.

See, it's all good! Let's all hold hands for a quick rememberence for a man who I have a lot of respect for and his accomplishments in his lifetime.

He's ALL over the news here in Chicago, since he was born here. Figures -- the media eats that stuff all up.

Mr Singalargh is due to appear in court on 17 April. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
