the achievement badge doesn't represent 1 achievement, when clicked on, it brings to to a listing of all of your different achievements split up into different categories.
Such as:...
*Breaking the Sound Barrier
*Damage Shots
*Distance Shots
etc..

i can discuss it with PCGUY and talk about formats, layouts, etc. but as far as we know, PCGUY might say no (I'm sure he won't if it's not too hard).
but anyway, ill talk to him later, i gotta go to work right now so.

If we did badges, I think specific, more customized badges would be more fun. Linking to private galleries would be okay, but I would prefer to see badges along the lines of...
Mach 1
Mach 2 (Gotta give the people something to reach for)
700cid+ (11.5L+) Chamber
Semi-Auto
Full Auto
150KJ, 300KJ, 500KJ, etc. Shot (320KJ is ~ .5kg@Mach1)
Etc.
Basically, I would like to see anything that falls into the "Achievements" category be the actual badges. Also, when coming up with badges for people to earn, we should not think of what has been done in the history of spudding, but rather what we would like to see in the future.
I wouldn't mind some badges that changed hands rather than another being handed out. These would be things like "Highest Velocity Launch" "Largest Displacement Cannon" "Fastest ROF (Small and Large Bore)".
Could you imagine the amazing things people would come up with when trying to "get that damn ROF badge back", or "earn that 500KJ badge"?
Of course, this badge system would not require us to drop the post count system, which would prevent upsetting a number of people.
As far as adding old cannons, etc, I think there would have to be some method for submitting cannons for badges, and old cannons would be just as welcome as new ones, but you would obviously need decent proof of your achievements.
We also must remember that the harder it is to earn a badge, the more likely the system is to take hold. No admin or mod wants to be responsible for issuing hundreds of badges, as each one would take specific and unique insertion... it is not something that we could automate like post count.

if we didn't make it as big to start out with as you explained, and had only badges that "change hands", I wouldn't mind being the "Badge Mod"...It would actually be my honor to do so.
and we could set it up as 1st-3rd place in each category like I have set up, we would just get rid of the "how-to" badge, "theories" badge, and the "achievements" badge..and instead, decide on the 3 top achievements to make as categories.
what do you think?

so technically, there are 7 empty spaces for different achievements.
all we need to do is decide what ones are going to be badges...

If you were the Badge Mod, you would need a Badge Mod Badge.

It probably wouldn't hurt to make a Mod mod badge...I mean a forum mod / admin badge as well. Most of us know, but for the new members, it may help (and give the mods and pat on the back for their job).
