I went to a concert recently, met quite a few folks who clearly enjoyed the consumption of questionably legal substances - after a while I started saying I worked as an accountant because as soon as they heard I worked in a lab most responses were on the lines of "ah, so can you synthesise this?" or "can you get me the chemicals to make this?" :roll:

congrats on the big 6,000 jack

the thing that amazes me is that almost every single one of your posts is useful and helps solve a problem of some sort or revolves around a current issue/topic.
most people (on other forums I have looked at) with that high of post count are usually post whores and post random crap that doesn't really help a situation/nobody cares about.

Bravo!

Hey, you have to die of something :) Did your mother tell you that not smoking will make you live forever?

Hey, if you stop smoking, you may not die twenty years short of the average. S warning you of what your mother should have done is solving problem: your immature death.

same here, worst for me because of asthma and allergies.
Yet another reason why my mother wont let me spud: fumes. Exception pneumatics.

magnum, write up a research paper showing the saftey precausions and information about spudding. Give it to your mom and ask her to read it.

While writing it include sentences that say something along these lines,
"If you are truly reading this research paper please make another mark on the back page."

Have 3 or 4 of them throughout your whole research paper so at the end of it if she hands it back to you and you only see 1 mark or 2 marks you know she didnt read the whole thing.

a lot of parents will see the effort you put into researching the safety aspects of the hobby and might reconsider. Also the problem is a lot of parents will not read the whole paper.

I have told several of my friends when I was younger to do this and 2 of them were allowed to do pneumatics and combustions and 1 of them were only allowed to use pneumatics. The reason why he was only allowed to use pneumatics were the same reason you listed above; allergies.

@JSR: Intervention?

@Davidvaini: You got the right idea. MAybe I will do it.

MAybe their should be a paper posted on this website that allows people like me to persuade parents to allow people like me to build guns. My first spud gun related project!

no, it should be written by you and not some quick paper that anybody could take. It is to show your parents that you have done research, not to show them that you can download a word document and be a carrier.
