That's terrible. Good thing it wasn't worse. I can understand wanting to put away cannons for a while. On the other hand it could be like a sign of experience...

I see floaters now while reading this from my left eye. They're getting annoying too. That one's from the time...
Also my jaw clicks from being broken twice by... I have a chipped tooth and a severed muscle in my face (numb)from... I have another nasty abdominal scar,... ETC.

Other day I parked my bicycle unlocked in front of Home Depot... ...

Well I had a nasty motorcycle wreck, and afterwards I bought a Harley so IDK. 8)

I umm... scraped my knee once. I've been following safety precautions pretty well and these stories still scare me. The closest thing I've ever had to an accident was a rubber schrader blow up at 200 psi. It was loud, but it stayed in one piece (barely).

I'm sorry about your eye, you are lucky to still have your sight. Now to find my safety glasses...

Good choice. I personally use a set rated for high energy and velocity impacts.

I had a spare pair that had got scratched up and rather hard to see through, so I subjected them to my air rifle - which barely dimpled the surface. It took quite a lot of increasing abuse (physical, not verbal - they seem to be mostly immune to foul language) to do them in.

I still wouldn't fancy taking a hit directly to the face from one of my launchers, but the odd ricochet or shrapnel? They should deal with that no problem.

Everyone should have at least two sets.

*Although, not the darts I'm designing to pierce 1/4" steel. Those would go through the goggles faster than a 300 horsepower chainsaw through melted butter.

Well i took the time to read all the posts and i am truly sorry about this horrible predicament and i wish God's speed in your healing process. I just worry about this if it were to happen to me, even though i know not to look down the barrel.

This kind of reminds me of the time my bro shot me with a metal bb (actually a few days ago). Luckily it wasnt pumped all the way and it was on my back. He thought there was no bb in the barrel but to his surprise there was. So just goes to show never to joke around with this stuff. Oh and by the way i was fine, but it did sting for a little.

This reminds me of a very interesting story. About a year ago, on a weekend morning, I woke up to my dad yelling, "Thomas! Get your gun! Those damn deer are eating the azalias. I jumped outta bed and grabed my gun, loaded it and opened the front door and began to look down the sights. I didn't realize, about 300 yards off to my rear-right, My neighbor was out in his front yard doing some weeding. My dad reaches out to grab the gun and I didn't know, I pulled the trigger and his right ring finger was infront of the barrel. It was lodged in his finger and wound up having to get surgery to have it removed. About 2 days and $7000 (after insurance) later, it was out. But this just shows, be careful. I really do hope to you that your eye gets better and that you fully regain vision. To this day, my dad still can't use full strength on his finger without it hurting.

Edit- His finger is fully healed, looks normal, and you wouldn't be able to tell if he was shot there.

Wow... is all I can say. I hope that your eye heals up and you can see clearly through it again.

Why the hell wasn't the safety on - and for that matter why was your finger near the trigger?

Unless you're ready to take the shot, your finger should be off the trigger, and the safety should be on!

Exactly. Unless you've physically checked it since you last picked it up, it should be assumed loaded, and even if you're sure it's unloaded, you should still act responsibly as if it were.

Maybe I didn't make it clear. I was looking through the scope and was going to fire. I had already sighted, and I looked back down the barrel to check before I shot, and my Dad grabbed it whilst I was pulling the trigger. My dad was behind me when I was aiming. So, Its not like I didn't follow the safty procedures, my dad didn't. You never grab a gun, esecially one that is suposed to be fired within the next few seconds, and thirdy, don't grab it at the end of the barrel

I am soory about your eye and I hope you get complete vision back soon. You are very lucky that it was just a mini or your injury would have been much worse.

Never have anything in front of the barrel that you don't want shot. even when i store my guns in the garage i leave them pointed directly at a wall where no one walks by.

Believe me, I had every intension to completly destroy that deer. My dad didn't think I was for some strange reason and he grabbed it... right as I was pullling the trigger.

how is you dad's finger? can he still move it and stuff?

Yeah, its like normal now, but he has a little pain when he moves it. The doctors fixed it all up good

Maybe he did check if there was, but bbs are small, so he could have easily thought that he didnt see it. But, the point still stands.
