There are a couple of problems with that - I've still got to expand out the grip shape and thumbhole, and that could interfere with those shapes somewhat.

And the other thing is I'm trying to go more for sweeping curves than hard angles. Not just from a visual viewpoint, but hard angles on wood have a far greater chance of chipping and splintering.

Im not sure I like the bit cut out inside the stock on stickys picture, but the shape at the bottom does look very nice. But like you said you would have to careful not teh get bits breaking out, especially at th back of the grip.

Both photos are to the same scale - the new stock is slightly shorter. You may also notice the scope has been moved forwards to accommodate for that.

The timing isn't bad, given that there has been a reapperance of squirrels in the back garden (which is somewhat odd at this time of year, but that doesn't change a thing).
I had enough time this evening to re-zero the scope for the new stock and check the adjustments, so now it's just a case of waiting...

Are you planning to keep this one or copy the design onto a piece of walnut or other expensive wood?

A bit of both... I'll be keeping this one for a while to assess it, then fiddling and making changes, then I'll be cloning it in something fancier.

But even then, I'll keep this one, and will probably stain/varnish it to make it last.

It's not entirely been written off... but I'll be leaving that until all the other curves and lines are sorted, so that no part ends up too thin and frail.

Is that scope a hawke nite eye? I have the same one, but mine has the turret to ajust the brightness at the back.

Nah, it's a JSR(*) 3-9x40 Parallax Adjustable scope with an illuminated reticule.

This is a rifle I'm planning on slowly modifying and customising in it's own unique way (firstly looks, but I've already got a couple of designs for improved internal parts), rather than going for any particular look.

You know, Rag, if you ever had the time and machining capabilities, it would be interesting to see a dieseling-effect rifle. That is, one which is designed/modified to survive the effects of repeated "misuse" by adding a drop of fuel where it doesn't belong.
Of course, I'd start with a cheaper airgun first.

Oh, and the stocks look good by the way. I like the shape of the second one better, but I imagine the first is more comfortable.
