what i does is to use this forum as a homepage, when it says pm or an interesting topic about stuff that still interests me i will just look into it.

Exactly - it's possible for as little as 5 or 6 ft-lbs (and perhaps even less) to be fatal if your luck is poor.

According to NATO you need at least 58 ft/lbs of impact energy to reliably inflict a fatal wound, however as you said it's a matter of luck. Through the eyes, a projectile can reach the brain without having to be moving fast enough to penetrate the skull, it doesn't take much force.

BTW, I believe the police officer was killed by a single shot to the upper chest, probably got through the rib cage and pierced his heart.

Well, obviously, the more energy, the less precise the shot placement is needed to be to be fatal.
But as a general rule, if it can pierce the skin to any real degree, it's got the potential to be fatal.
