Nothing happened to the other one, but I was so out of practise when I came back to it, and because I had a very fiddly bit to do next, I started on another to get my hand back in.

It should be nice enough when complete.
When designing her armour I was deliberately staying away from the "female fantasy armour" cliché of bare skin and plunging necklines - or in many cases, scarcely enough worn to maintain the character's modesty.
I'm not looking for that - she's supposed to be an experienced and capable warrior, so she's not going to have stupid armour.
The simple solution was to work on a principle of "If I were her, would I be happy to wear this in a combat situation?" - which proved an effective technique.
So yeah, although looks was not the primary thing on my mind, I think it'll look pretty good when all done.

What exacly do you use to carve the details, as i doubt the sculpure is large eanoth to do so with you fingers. When you are done will you color this or leave it as it is?
This is really impressive, i would never be able to make anything like this, most likely you will see one of my "art works" with in the next month as i really feel like shooting it and will try and make a damage vid, hmm ill make a burning man thing out of it...

This picture should prove helpful:

It's mostly done with one of the tools that looks a little like a blunt scalpel - the top one is polished, the second one Teflon treated to stop the putty sticking to it too much. I also keep the set of cheap paintbrushes around, because the brush end is useful in smoothing the putty to get it looking neater.
When you are done will you color this or leave it as it is?
They'll all be painted.

That's cool!
I made a bodybuilder once.So you know I appreciate this very much!
I wonder...could you give one of these movable joints?
My kid would love it if I could make him some actionfigures like that.

I will say, you have some extreme talent. Not only can you draw and sculpt spectacularly, but if someone makes a remark about it, you can bring out a cannon and do some real damage

Nothing this small really - far too fiddly. These are all static models, so it calls on a bit of player imagination to see them as the active heroes they represent when on the table top.
It also takes a bit of imagination to find a pose that will look alright wherever they are...
@thedeathofall: It's a strange skill set, I know.

I know what you mean. I have played violin for many years. I get people asking me about what I want to do later in life (they usually expect me to say something about music), and when i tell them that i want to go to school for engineering (I don't bother to tell them what kind of engineering), they kind of look at me funny. Its great to be able to build something that can potentially kill someone.

I have studied to become an art teacher. And I became a bouncer.
Now I build spudguns and work in a hardware supplier.
I also play the guitar a bit.
Guess I'm weird too

I normally get the reverse. I've been doing engineering type things for many years, but if/when I show people my artwork, they often ask why I didn't go into that instead.
Aside from the fact I know my art pales before more practised people (although there is certainly room for improvement - with practise of course), the fact is, I only discovered my art was reasonable after I had already started taking steps towards engineering, and only as a daft "half-bet" with a mate, who responded to my constructive criticisms with "Yeah, well - you do better."
General opinion is that I came out on top in that on, in spite of little former practise or experience (never liked art lessons as a kid) - I suppose my good mental visualisation is an advantage on the matter.
Its great to be able to build something that can potentially kill someone.
Not so much my thinking - risks of fatalities are not exactly the appeal to me as far as the subject is concerned.

While I am still here, are there any comments on the actual design of the armour?
Appearance, functionality... whatever really. I don't want the normal stupidity people come up with when designing armour for female characters, where people get it into their heads that armour's role is to flatter the form rather than protect it.
I'm not trying to hide any feminine attributes - the model's gender is not supposed to be ambiguous or misinterpreted - but equally, I'm not trying to actively show her feminine attributes either.

The armor looks like it would be good against slashing weapons. I guess she has agility to handle the rest.

I'm expanding this thread to cover my attempts at drawing as well as my attempts at sculpting - saves on threads all over the place.
Here's a WIP of a duel scene I'm working on. It's a photo of the drawing I'm afraid... because I can't be arsed to try and scan in the A3 picture with my A4 scanner and repiece it until I'm more done with it.
http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb12 ... G_1371.jpg
The crude outline on the left of the figure being smacked across the room is just a nameless mook - the character on the right is Silva (the character who's miniature I'm currently working on), showing off her claws. Literally, in this case.
Bit of a revamp from her
original incarnations (when she was referred to as Abigail). She's been re-imagined quite a lot - still, a lot of stuff remains. Still heavily bionic and combat ready - and she still has the grenade pin on a chain around her neck.
And before anyone asks, said pin is there for a reason. Nor is that a radio headset - it's the start of me drawing an electrical power linkage. Her background says that much of the left side of her face is also bionic and has been reconstructed - mostly hidden, aside from that cable. It'll become clearer as I go hopefully.
Obviously, the left figure, the background and Silva from the waist down is just the crudest of place holder lines for now (and it all needs more work), but anyway, as always, I welcome constructive comments and criticisms.
EDIT: I'll note, I feel the face is the best I've ever done on these small scales

Update for you guys, with a proper scan this time.
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb12 ... lsmall.jpg ("Small", because my original scans were 4510 by 3382)
The guy got an adjustment, because I didn't feel he was flailing wildly enough for someone being smacked across the room. Silva's back has also been adjusted so it's not so straight, instead replaced with a more accurate curve.
Should you be wondering why her trouser legs are different lengths, that's because of an effect known as artistic licence. :tongue3:
In other words, I wanted to show off her bionic leg properly.
But anyway, I feel she's appropriately kicking arse - even if she
might be exercising use of excessive force.

It's not my talent. I stole it. The poor guy hasn't noticed I haven't put it back yet.
Oh crap, I wasn't supposed to tell you that... Um, yes, it is nice - I, er, got it from Father Christmas.
Now if you can make a few robotic girlfriends that look like that we'll all be happy

Curses, my secret fantasy has been revealed!

That'd be great, but my pedantic side points out that she's only
partly bionic. Rest of her is the bits she was born with.
